19678 AL Game: Bsn. @ Det.

June 19, 1968

The Detroit Tiger's winning streak is now at 12 games. The Tigers scored 4 runs in the 1st inning in today's game and looked as if they would cruise to an easy victory over the Boston Red Sox.  However, the Red Sox kept coming back in this game. Ken Harrelson hit 3 homers and had 5 RBI for the visitors, but it wasn't enough to prevent Detroit from winning 10-8.

Dick McAuliffe blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the red-hot Detroit Tigers
topped the Boston Red Sox by a score of 10 to 8 at Tiger Stadium.

McAuliffe helped send the fans home happy. He banged out a single in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 2nd inning and clubbed a two-run
home run in the 4th inning. Boston scored in 6 different innings, but their
shaky pitching kept them from victory.

The winning pitcher was Joe Sparma(10-3) who allowed 6 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings. Pat Dobson earned his 2nd save. Gary Bell(2-7) took the loss. He
was knocked around pretty good, giving up 8 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

Detroit continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this
stretch. 'We're on quite a roll lately' said Mayo Smith. 'I just hope we can
keep it going.'
