Willie Horton rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Comiskey Park as the
sizzling Detroit Tigers won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Chicago White Sox by the count of 5 to 4.

Detroit came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. Jim Northrup started the inning off right when he was hit by a pitch.
After an out was recorded, Horton came to bat and bombed a two-run dinger.
Detroit won despite being out-hit by Chicago 11 hits to 6.

The winning pitcher was Fred Lasher(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Wilbur Wood(2-2) took the loss in relief. He pitched 2 innings allowing 1
hit and no walks.

Mayo Smith was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win it
in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the
fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win this afternoon!'
