Bob Gibson went 9 solid innings as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Atlanta
Braves by a score of 4 to 0.
St. Louis jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run.
That early scoring was all that Gibson(12-1) needed. St. Louis had a total
of 9 hits for the game.
Dick Kelley(2-5) took the loss. He surrendered 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings
and saw his ERA increase from 2.39 to 2.65. 'We didn't have a whole lot of
chances tonight,' Lum Harris said. 'Gibson just was too much for our guys.'
