1968 NL Game: LA @ Chi. 3 Cubs smash 2 homeruns each in rout of LA.

July 27, 1968

In a 1st for me, as far as I can recall, 3 players on the same team each hit 2 homeruns in the same game. Billy Williams, Ron Santo and Ernie Banks all hit 2 homeruns apiece while the Chicago Cubs blasted the Los Angeles Dodgers 13-0. Oh yes, Fergie Jenkins also threw a 5 hit shutout for his 15th Win of the season.

Fergie Jenkins tossed a complete game shutout and Ron Santo smashed 2 homeruns
and scored 3 times at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs embarrassed the Los
Angeles Dodgers by the lopsided score of 13 to 0.

Santo made sure the Chicago fans enjoyed themselves. He clubbed a solo home
run in the 3rd inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning
and laced a base-knock in the 8th inning. Offensively, Chicago was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

For Jenkins(15-8) it was his 5th shutout this year. The losing pitcher was
Claude Osteen(8-12). He served up 3 gopher balls in 2 and 1/3 innings.
