Gibson walked 1 and struck out 10 while pitching his gem. Chris Short allowed an Orlando Cepeda homerun in the 7th inning for the only scoring in the game. St. Louis fans certainly got their money's worth at Busch Stadium. Bob
Gibson(16-5) pitched a rare no-hitter as the very strong St. Louis Cardinals
toppled the Philadelphia Phillies 1 to 0.

Gibson was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Busch Stadium tonight! He allowed Philadelphia just one
walk. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning
the crowd was electrified. Gibson racked up 10 strikeouts. St. Louis had
just 6 hits for the night.

Chris Short(11-9) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks
in 8 innings. When asked how his stuff was out there, Gibson looked a bit
incredulous (as did this reporter) and replied 'A bit better than average,
I'd have to say'
