Larry Brown connected with a 'big fly' and Luis Tiant took a no-hitter into
the 9th inning at Municipal Stadium as the Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago
White Sox 2 to 0.

Tiant(1-0) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago offense. He
allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 9 innings. The right-handed Tiant had his
no-hit bid broken up by Tim Cullen who singled with nobody out in the 9th
inning. Cleveland banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.

The loss was charged to Joe Horlen(0-1). He allowed 2 runs and 8 hits in 7
and 2/3 innings. 'He had his 'A' game today,' Al Dark said of Tiant. 'Very
impressive performance.'
