August 20, 1968

Denny McLain became the first 20 game winner in this 1968 MLB season in tonight's game at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. McLain went the distance in a rather pedestrian performance, for him, as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-3. McLain allowed 8 hits, walked 1, struck out 6 and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in the game. Willie Horton hit a 2-run homer in the Tiger's 3 run 4th inning that proved to be the winning margin.
