1968 Detroit Game: Denny McLain Start #34

August 28, 1968

 Denny McLain shutout the California Angels on 8 hits and the Detroit Tigers came away with a 3-0 victory tonight at Tiger Stadium. Detroit scored a run in the 3rd inning, and added 2 in the 4th on a Willie Horton homerun. That was all the scoring in the game and McLain walked off the mound with his 22nd Win of the season.

Denny McLain recorded a complete game shutout and left fielder Willie Horton
homered and had 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers outscored the California Angels 3
to 0.
 
McLain(22-5) had a strong outing.  He didn't allow much, just 8 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings.  Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with
no runs scored after that point.  
 
Tom Burgmeier(2-2) was the loser.  He pitched 4 innings allowing 4 hits and 1
walk.
