1968 AL News Recap and League Leaders

May 15, 1968

A couple of surprising Cleveland Indian players are leading the AL in BA. Vic Davalillo leads the AL with a .402 BA and Duke Simms is 2nd with a .390 BA. Simms is also 2nd in RBI with 26. Minnesota's Tony Oliva is having an excellent season so far. He is 3rd in BA, 3rd in HR and 1st in RBI. Washington's Frank Howard is the one bright spot for the floundering team. He's mashed 14 HR and is tied for 2nd in the AL with 26 RBI. There's many pitchers in the AL having outstanding seasons and Oakland's Bert Campaneris is stealing bases at near record numbers.
