1968 Detroit Game: Denny McLain Start #11

May 29, 1968

  Denny McLain and the Detroit Tigers had an easy time of it tonight defeating the California Angels 11-2. Detroit scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning and added 5 runs in the 4th, allowing McLain to leave the game early with his 8th Win of the season.

Jim Northrup collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI and Denny McLain came
through with a solid 7 innings at Anaheim Stadium where the Detroit Tigers
beat the California Angels 11 to 2.
 
McLain(8-2) was in control of the game from the outset.  He didn't give up
much, just 4 hits and no walks in 7 innings.  Detroit finished with 13 hits
while California ended up with 4.  
 
Jim McGlothlin(1-6) was the losing pitcher.  He was the victim of a defensive
lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.  
 
Detroit remained hot, improving their record to a league leading 31-11.  They
now have a record of 8-2 in recent days.  With the loss, the California
ballclub's record is 18-27.
