Jim Hardin was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Detroit Tigers 3 to 2 at Tiger
Stadium.

Baltimore scored 2 runs in the decisive 4th inning. Detroit tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Hardin(6-1) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Denny
McLain(5-2) was hit with the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.

Mayo Smith was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
