TEAM RISP- Yankees: 3 for 17 Orioles: 3 for 19
Boog Powell had 4 hits at Memorial Stadium where the Baltimore Orioles beat
the New York Yankees in 19 innings by the score of 7 to 6.
Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Baltimore ended up
winning it in the 19th inning. Andy Etchebarren drew a walk. Mark Belanger
stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an error. After an out was
recorded, Curt Blefary was walked intentionally to load the bases. Paul
Blair came up and he drew a walk making Baltimore the victors to the delight
of the home town faithful. Baltimore had 18 hits for the night while New
York had 13.
The win was credited to Eddie Watt(1-0) who went 3 innings allowing no runs.
Joe Verbanic(0-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck
loser, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
