One run was the difference at Tiger Stadium as the seemingly unstoppable
Detroit Tigers defeated the Minnesota Twins 4 to 3.

Detroit had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 runs
on 3 base hits. Bob Christian led off and he doubled. Dick McAuliffe
followed and he tripled driving in a run. Mickey Stanley then delivered a
one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Minnesota tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Denny McLain(24-5) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Don McMahon
gained credit for his 4th save. Jim Kaat(5-18) suffered the loss.

It was another victory for Detroit at Tiger Stadium. Now their winning streak
stands at 7 games. Cal Ermer was very irritated after the contest. 'Just our
luck to run into a team that's playing like a juggernaut right now. I have
to congratulate Mayo Smith on his team's recent performance. A very
impressive run.'
