1968 Detroit Game: Denny McLain Start #38

September 14, 1968

 On this date 'in real life', the Detroit Tigers came from behind in the 9th inning to defeat the Oakland A's and hand Denny McLain his 30th Win of the season. In my replay today, the A's defeated the Tigers 7-2. Denny McLain lasted 7 inning before being lifted for a pinch-hitter trailing 4-1 (2 earned runs). The A's tacked on 3 runs in the 9th against Pat Dobson. Chuck Dobson went the distance for Oakland, picking up his 12th Win of the season. McLain only has 3 starts left this year so the most Wins he can reach is 27.

Chuck Dobson tossed a complete game at Tiger Stadium as the Oakland A's beat
the Detroit Tigers by the count of 7 to 2.
 
Detroit was unable to climb back into it after Oakland went ahead for good in
the top of the 5th inning scoring 2 runners on 0 hits.  Both teams ended up
with 8 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Dobson(12-18) allowed 2 runs on the game. Denny McLain(24-6) was the losing
pitcher.  He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
