1968 Detroit Game: Earl Wilson vs. Oakland A's

September, 13, 1968

The amazingly dominate Detroit Tigers pounded the Oakland A's tonight and Earl Wilson had his best game of the season. Wilson threw a 7-hit shutout against the A's, but it was his bat that had people buzzing after the 11-0 Tiger victory. Detroit put 10 runs on the board in the 1st inning with the biggest blow a 3-run homer by Wilson. If that wasn't enough, Earl hit another homerun in the 5th inning before completing the whitewashing of the A's. Catfish Hunter couldn't pitch out of that 1st inning for Oakland, giving up 4 homers and 7 runs (4 earned). Wilson has now hit 6 homeruns this season for the Tigers.
