1968 Detroit Game: Denny McLain Start #41

September 28, 1968

 In his last start of the regular season Denny McLain and the Detroit Tigers shutout the Washington Senators 4-0. McLain was in excellent form, allowing only 2 hits, striking out 9, and getting his 27th Win of the season. Norm Cash drove in 3 of the Tigers' runs, reaching the 100 RBI milestone on the season.

Denny McLain was on top of his game, blanking Washington on just 2 hits at
Tiger Stadium as the Detroit Tigers beat the hapless Washington Senators 4 to
0.
 
McLain(27-6) escaped virtually unscathed against the Washington hitters. He
gave up just 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  McLain whiffed an impressive
total of 10 Washington batters.  Detroit had a total of 7 hits for the game.
 
Camilo Pascual(10-15) was the loser.  He pitched 5 innings and surrendered 6
hits and 4 walks. 'All of my pitches were working today,' McLain said.  'I
felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
